We had a very successful and busy day yesterday and because of that we are likely to run out of ripe strawberries by lunch time. We have plenty more to come. May we suggest you telephone before coming to check availability.
We also have green gooseberries, red currants and the first few ripe raspberries available to pick today.
We are glad to say that at long last we are able to begin our pick your own fruit season. We shall be opening our gates at 9.00 a.m. this coming Saturday 29th June.
We have a good crop of strawberries, red currants and the first ripe green gooseberries.
If you are thinking of coming on Sunday afternoon, please may we suggest that you telephone first because there is a high probability that we will run out of strawberries. There will of course be plenty more to come. Thank you.
We are sorry but due to the inclement weather we have been experiencing over the last few weeks, we have had to delay the opening of the fruit farm for a further week. We hope to begin our PYO season on Saturday 29th June at 9.00 a.m.
Please also check the answer phone message on 01727 831224
Spring is with us, summer is fast approaching and the soft fruit season is once again nearly with us.
The strawberries are now in full flower. Asssuming a traditional May/June of sunshine and showers we hope to open our gates on Saturday 22nd June.
This year we have replaced many of our raspberries to extend our picking season with a new variety Glen Dee which should pick well into August. Anyone who has fond memories of forest blackberry picking in late summer will be amazed to find the new varieties of cultivars have doubled in size and fruit from early July onwards. We grow two varieties of gooseberries, and the green ones are rather prickly and gloves are advised.
We look forward to welcoming you here this season. Please note we are a small farm and fruit can run out very quickly so please either call on 01727 831123 or check the website (especially sunday afternoons) we update the answer phone daily and also if there is any change to availability.
We are now coming to the end of our short but very busy pick your own season. We still have strawberries, raspberries, red and black currants and blackberries available to pick but they are coming to the end.
We shall be open Thursday, 26th July, CLOSED ALL DAY FRIDAY 27TH JULY, open Saturday 28th July and CLOSED ALL DAY SUNDAY 29TH JULY. After that we shall probably open twice more, firstly Tuesday 31st July and FINALLY on Saturday 4th August.
Please check either the answer phone or website if coming next week in case things change. Thank you.
We have a limited crop of strawberries but with more to come and another full crop ready in about 7 to 10 days. We have plenty of raspberries, red and blackcurrants and blackberries available for picking now. The gooseberries have now come to the end of their season.
PLEASE MAY WE ASK PEOPLE NOT TO SMOKE WHILE WALKING AROUND AND PICKING FRUIT. THE GROUND IS EXTREMELY DRY AND COULD CATCH ALIGHT VERY QUICKLY. MANY THANKS.
We will have a limited amount of strawberries and raspberries tomorrow (but with plenty still to come) and there is a possibility that we may have to close early if the fruit runs out. We still have good crops of red and black currants, gooseberries and blackberries.
Please check the answer phone if you are thinking of coming later on in the day. The answer phone will be updated if anything changes.
We have had a good start to the season and all fruits are ripening up well. We do sometimes run out of strawberries, especially at the end of the day and at the end of busy weekends. If this is the case we will put a message up on the answer phone, so please always call if coming later in the day.
We look forward to welcoming you to our small family run fruit farm.
We are very sorry but we will have to be closed on Sunday 24th June. There is no ripe fruit available but hopefully we will have plenty to pick by Tuesday when we should have a good crop of strawberries, raspberries and red currants.
We are delighted to say that we shall be opening tomorrow Saturday, 23rd June at 9.00 a.m. We have available for picking a reasonable crop of strawberries and our first few raspberries. The redcurrants are also ready.
If you are thinking of coming on Sunday, please may I suggest that you telephone before coming in case the first crop of strawberries have been picked.
We look forward to seeing you all during this PYO season, and hope that this wonderful weather continues.
Due to the cold and very wet and dull early spring, this season is likely to start a little later. We are hoping to open on Saturday, 23rd June. We will keep the website and telephone answer machine updated (01727 831224).
Recent pictures of the strawberries show a fine fruit set but no lovely red berries yet, but we hope they will be really good as the long growing season should enhance the flavour.
There has been a large investment over the winter with new raspberries (glen ample and cascade delight) which are coming on well. Raspberries freeze extremely well, (they are best placed on trays to freeze) and defrost still holding their shape.
Blackberries are also a large part of our harvest offering and they are nothing like those found in the hedgerows. They are large and sweet and also freeze extremely well. They are perhaps the greatest addition to the PYO experience.
We have two varieties of gooseberries – Invicta the green gooseberry which is very popular but very prickly (gloves are a good idea) and Pax the red dessert gooseberry which is slightly later but very sweet and thornless.
Prices are always competitive and we hope you will enjoy your visit to our small family farm again in 2018.
We also provide ice creams and soft drinks which are always popular.
We hope to remain open until mid to late August but this is always dependent on the availability of the fruit.
Please remember we are only a small farm and if the weekends are hot and sunny we often run out of strawberries before the end of Sunday.
As we are a food premises unfortunately we do not allow dogs (except guide dogs).
We are now coming to the end of our pick your own season and the fruits are limited. We are closed now until Thursday, 10th August when we will open at 10.00 a.m. The pensioners discount will apply on that day after 1 p.m.
We will then open on Saturday, 12th August and hopefully Sunday 13th (depending on availability of fruit) . This will be the last weekend of the season.
We are sorry but we shall be closed Saturday, 29th July. This is partly due to the fact that we have very little ripe fruit available and also that the weather forecast is not very good. We plan to open again on Sunday 30th July when we hope to have a few strawberries and raspberries, but these will be limited. This will be confirmed on Saturday after 17.00 hours.
If and when we have some warm weather we will have plenty more raspberries available for picking and our last crop of blackberries. The strawberries are now coming to the end of their season.
We are sorry but we have no strawberries available for picking today Saturday, 15th July and only a limited amount of ripe raspberries but with plenty more to come. There are good crops of blackberries, red and black currants available.
Also we are sorry but WE WILL BE CLOSED SUNDAY 16TH JULY, but will reopen on Tuesday 18th July at 10.00 a,m,
We are very sorry but we will be closed all day Sunday 9th July. This is due to the fact that we have had an incredibly busy day today and we just do not have any ripe fruit available. We will hopefully reopen on Tuesday 11th July at 10.00 a.m.
We are sorry but the credit card machine has broken and we are waiting for a replacement to be delivered which wont be until some time on Saturday. In the meantime we are very happy to accept cash or cheques. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
We still have good crops of all fruits except gooseberries which have now come to the end of their season.
Please be aware that on Sunday 2nd July, our opening hours will be 9.00 a.m. until 1.00 p.m. This is due to the fact that we have had an extremely busy day today and we will run out of fruit before the end of tomorrow. We will resume normal hours on Tuesday 4th July.
We have a reasonable crop of strawberries but these are likely to run out before the end of the weekend. More strawberries will continue to ripen and a new crop will follow shortly. We have excellent crops of red and black currants, red and green gooseberries and blackberries. The raspberries will hopefully be ready this weekend.
We had an extremely busy day yesterday and now only have certain fruits available today. We have a small amount of strawberries which are likely to be picked by lunchtime, and there will not be any raspberries until the middle of next week. We still have full crops of blackberries, red and black currants and green and red gooseberries. Thank you
The new pyo season is nearly upon us. We are now hoping to open on Saturday 24th June at 9.00 a.m. The delay is mainly due to the recent cold wet and very windy conditions. If anything changes we will update this web page. Please also check on the answer phone on 01727 831224. Thank you.
The fruit farm will be closed this Friday 5th August but we will be open again on Saturday 6th. We are gradually coming to the end of our pick your own season.
At present we still have a limited crop of raspberries, blackberries, and red currants . The black currants have nearly come to the end for this season. The gooseberries have finished. We still have a good crop of strawberries but they do need time to ripen and this is why from time to time we have to close for a day or so.
Please check the website or answer phone before coming just in case we have had to close. Thank you
We are sorry but we are going to be closed this Sunday 31st July, to allow the next crop of strawberries to ripen. They will be ready for picking on Tuesday. There are still a limited amount of raspberries blackberries and currants which will also be available on Tuesday 2nd August. Thank you
